One week – Berber villages and Oases
Berber villages and oases
D1 – Djerba
Welcome at the airport, transfer to the hotel. Half board at the Bougainviller hotel, a very pleasant and human-sized hotel.
D2 – Djerba / Tataouine
Departure by 4×4 from Djerba by the Roman road towards Tataouine and Chénini, visit and lunch. In the afternoon visit the Ksour. In the evening, half-board at the troglodyte residence of Douiret.
D3 – Tataouine / Ksar Ghilane / Zmela Lebrissa
Departure in the morning to the oasis of Ksar Ghilane and its hot spring where you can bathe.
Lunch at Ksar Ghilane. In the afternoon you can, if you wish, take a camel ride to the fort. (extra). Then you will join our camp in Zmela to spend the evening and night in the desert. Traditional meal, night in a tent, breakfast with the delicious bread pancake cooked in the sand.
from 15/09 to 15/06 you can choose to spend the night in bivouac with the dromedaries from Ksar Ghilane.
D4 – Zmela Lebrissa / Douz
Crossing the desert by the dunes and small tracks (in summer by road), you will arrive at Douz, a small town of Bedouin tradition where the nomads had their market and then gradually settled down. Lunch in a small local restaurant. In the afternoon visit Zaafrane, Sabria. Half board at the Sahara Douz hotel (4 *)
D5 – Douz / Tamerza / Tozeur
You will cross the Chott el Jerid, an extraordinary natural site that is always changing. Then discover the mountain oases, Tamerza, Midès and Chébika, small paradises in the middle of a completely arid area. Lunch in Tamerza. In the afternoon, stop at Ong Jmel, the filming site of Star Wars. Half-board at the Ksar Rouge hotel****.
D6 – Tozeur / Matmata / Zammour
In the morning visit Tozeur, the oasis and the old town. Lunch at the hotel then crossing the Chott towards Matmata with a visit to a troglodyte house. Then road to Zammour. Half board troglodyte hotel Dar Ennaim
D7 – Zammour / Djerba
In the morning, stop at Toujane with a break at Kamel’s, then drive to Djerba by ferry. Lunch and visit to Houmt Souk. Half-board at the Bougainviller hotel.
D8 – Djerba airport
Transfer to the airport for your return flight
