The 2-week treks

Discovering the Grand Erg Oriental

The Tunisian part of the Sahara is in the Grand Erg Oriental, a magnificent region of dunes as far as the eye can see. The great two-week itineraries allow you a total immersion. By staying two weeks away from everything, without contact with the world, you will have the rare experience of a total disconnection. Forget the world, reconnect with the essential.

Wildlife

First the dromedary (only one hump, the camel has two): you will be amazed by its adaptation to its natural environment. Essential for traveling in the desert in silence.

The herds of goats and sheep that you will probably come across with their shepherds

And then all the others that you may be lucky enough to see but whose tracks you will always see:

  • On all fours: hares and rabbits, fennecs, gazelles, hedgehogs, jerboas and little mice
  • Birds are everywhere, birds of prey, crows, small colorful birds, crested birds… and even sometimes a stork on its way to the south or north
  • The countless insects and arachnids…
  • Lizards, sand fish
  • And then also those that we fear: scorpions, rare in winter, which have no desire to meet you, they only sting if you touch them inadvertently, so simple precautionary instructions: empty your shoes before putting them on, do not open your sleeping bag in advance, and above all follow the instructions of your guides. And finally, the snakes, extremely fearful, which flee when they feel the vibrations of the caravan

The flora

If you are lucky enough to come in the spring when it has rained in winter, you will have real carpets of fragrant flowers, but most often various bushes offer us their shade and allow the dromedaries to find their food.
