A day in the desert
Our working season in the desert is from October to May. We organize treks in the Sahara with camels, in our case they are dromedaries. Between June and September it is too hot…
Trek in the Sahara: a typical day
The days are punctuated by the sun, depending on the season the schedules vary, depending on the temperature too. When trekking in the Sahara, put down your watch and look at the sky!
Every morning we get up with the sun! The fire is already crackling and breakfast is being prepared, delicious with fresh bread baked in the sand.
After breakfast we get ready to leave and load the dromedaries that the camel drivers have gone to get: at night, except during the rutting season, they are released so that they can feed better. In general, the departure is about 2 hours after getting up, it depends on the size of the group and its energy…
When it is cool and the days are short, we do a single stage interspersed with breaks to drink and nibble on some biscuits or dates. We stop a little late for lunch. After lunch and the traditional nap we go to get wood for the evening and we set up camp. Then everyone is free to do as they please until the evening meal.
When it is hot and the days are getting longer, we stop at the end of the morning to have lunch and take a nap until the temperature drops a little and then we do a second stage to the evening bivouac.
In general, the stages are 4 to 5 hours of walking but we can adapt according to the motivation of the group.
After dinner, evening around the fire with green tea before going to sleep in the tent or under the stars…
The trek in the Sahara will allow you to reconnect with the rhythm of nature
